    Three-dimensional greening process

    AUTHOR: DATE:2018/6/25 10:43:28 VISITS:

The development process of three-dimensional greening As a design concept and building technology, three-dimensional greening has many positive meanings for green buildings. As we all know, three-dimensional greening exerts multiple ecological effects on the human environment, including improving the thermal environment and energy conservation, storing rainwater, fixing carbon and releasing oxygen, purifying the air, reducing noise, and increasing biodiversity. Not only that, three-dimensional greening is more intuitive than other green building technologies in terms of concepts such as ecology, green, and environmental protection, and has a high aesthetic and cultural value. Especially in the densely-constructed areas where the environment is deteriorating and where the green is most deficient, three-dimensional afforestation can well meet the physiological and psychological needs of human “biophilicity”. Therefore, it has developed very rapidly in recent years and has become a common design method.

However, three-dimensional greening also has certain limitations. Compared with ordinary greening, there is still a certain gap between the three-dimensional afforestation in terms of implementation and maintenance costs, green volume per unit area, and the technology is not mature enough. Improper design or implementation may become a burden on the environment of buildings and cities.

Green building emphasizes the use of appropriate technologies to obtain the best benefits in the entire life cycle of a building. Therefore, in the application of three-dimensional afforestation in green buildings, the planning and design methods should be based on solid scientific research. Through data platforms such as China Knowledge Network, Yuan Ling led team members to retrieve and count relevant documents since 2004.

Looking at the number of papers, research on "roofing roofs" and "planting roofs" started earlier and peaked before and after the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games; research on the subject of "three-dimensional afforestation" or "vertical greening" reached a peak after the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Afterwards, the number of papers remained basically the same, but the quality of research gradually improved. These trends illustrate the contribution of major events to the three-dimensional afforestation, as well as the gradual development of three-dimensional afforestation from flat roof greening.

From the perspective of discipline classification, the three-dimensional afforestation research involves multiple disciplines, among which the disciplines of forestry and agriculture occupy the major part. In general, forestry science focuses on plant-centered experiments and quantitative research; architectural science focuses on studying the ecological effects of three-dimensional landscaping on buildings or cities, and the corresponding planning and design methods and technical measures.

After further summarization and research, the researchers found that the three-dimensional afforestation research can be divided into three major areas of ecological effects, planning and design methods and economic policies according to the knowledge structure. These three major areas can also be divided into several sub-categories. On the other hand, there are many cross-cutting and overlaps in these disciplines among different disciplines. Although the purposes and methods are different, there are also tendencies of synergy and integration.
